Anna Schmiel

B.A. in International Relations | Carleton College [2017]

A Minnesota native, Anna graduated from Carleton College in 2017 with a degree in International Relations. Her interest in sustainable design and creating a more community-centric world was influenced by her field research on post-dictatorship economic development in Southeast Asia and working with small businesses at NEON, a business incubator in North Minneapolis. Currently, she works as a Policy and Communications Aide for Hennepin County Commissioner Lunde (District 1), where her focus areas are the METRO Blue Line Extension project, the county’s new Climate Action Plan, and small business support/workforce development. She is passionate about making her state a more equitable place and believes inclusive design, from infrastructure to workforce training programs, is the key to making this happen.
